About Mike Perry:
Mike Perry doesn’t leave a stone untouched. From books to zines, from installations to drawings, from paintings to sculptures, from drawings to prints. Mike can do it all, and adds his own flavour to each and every project he undertakes. Mike is always drawing, forever not resting his pen and creative mind. To accommodate the productive nature of Mike Perry, our usual screen print is being taken to the next level. For this trip, Mike will create a one color screen print before going on his trip. When arriving in Antwerp, his prints will be waiting for him at the hotel. With the prints in hand Mike will be exploring the city while drawing on the prints. Making each print, a unique artwork.
More examples of Mike’s work can be found on his website; www.mikeperrystudio.com

A little word by Mike Perry
"Antwerp was filled with nice people, it was very quiet and peaceful. I'm always so happy when I end up somewhere where I don't know a soul and everyone is just nice. That's all I really want out of life, just nice people around. When I left New York it was end of August. It was hot and the city shuts down and is restless for the fall to begin. For me it was the perfect time to escape the end of a New York summer. I was actually stoked to be able to wear pants and a sweater when I got to Antwerp. My favorite part of my trip was the ability to wake up, order a coffee at a cafe and just sit for hours drawing away in my sketchbook. There were days where I was working for six hours straight on one page. I never get to do that back in New York.
I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea to hand paint all the prints. Traveling with a pile of prints under your arm, trying to paint them and see the city at the same time, doesn't go hand in hand very well. I only got a few painted in Antwerp, and shipped the rest back to New York to properly paint them. Back in my studio I've used a little water color, a little ink and some fun markers. Really just having fun filling them with color. There is a bit of a narrative to the print. You see me and my dog standing at the edge of the world, being excited and looking out at what is beyond. To me that is what the essence of the Jaunt is, an opportunity to look over the edge and then wander over to see what is just beyond.”

Day three in Antwerp and I almost got hit by a bus. As a bonus i got yelled at by the bus driver. Then while eating lunch there was a bomb scare and the police and fire department took over the street. Antwerp is just like another day in New York except much more beautiful!

Day 3 in Antwerp. Why is it when I travel I’m always hungry and instead of eating properly I just draw sandwiches and cakes?
Fun with flowers and watercolor. I always love drawing plants and am totally surprised by the plant life everywhere here in Antwerp. Especially being that it’s August and everyone is walking around in coats and big sweaters.
Finally finished this spread! Started it in Big Sur and finished in Antwerp

Day 4 in Antwerp. I got caught in the rain but had a chance to wander a bit this morning. While wandering around in a strange city I find drinking alone to be blast! Well when you have a sketchbook your never alone.
Really like this door. Probably the hand cut mail slots.
This is the roof of the fanciest car park ever except that it wasn’t fancy at all.
Some old rocks. I wish I could take some home with me for my rock collection.
Was going to steal one of these for my rock collection be realized carrying this would slow down my jaunt
